Poderi di Carlo

A long lasting tradition
Looking to the future

The Poderi di Carlo brand is a tribute to the traditional viticulture of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, a region located in the north-east of Italy on the border with Austria and Slovenia. The winemaking tradition goes back centuries when our ancestors passionately cultivated historic vineyards on small parcels of land.

Nowadays we cultivate the vineyards according to the peculiarities of the climate and keeping up with the evolution of the wine while respecting its identity. The introduction of advanced technology in winemaking plays a key role in pursuing our goal, to preserve our values while being sustainable and looking to the future.

We believe in a
sustainable approach

Friuli-Venezia Giulia Region

Friuli-Venezia Giulia is a region of Italy, on the border with Austria and Slovenia. The territory has a complex and varied morphology that includes starting from the north the Julian Prealps, an extensive range of foothills and hills, gentle plains that slope down towards the sea. The complexity of the territory and the climatic variations are reflected in the great variety and quality of the wines produced.

COLLIO: HILLS & HISTORICAL VINEYARDS

Collio DOC covers an area of 1,500 hectares of vineyards on hills and high grounds made of marl and sandstone of Eocene origin, marked by a series of ordered rows of vines. Collio DOC includes excellent wines produced on the sunny hills near Gorizia, along the border between Italy and Slovenia.

GRAVE: SAND & STONES

Friuli Grave DOC area extends for about 7,500 hectares, covering the plains of several rivers. The alluvial and pebbly soils with large deposits of sand and stones allow for excellent drainage, which is useful in reducing the effect of heavy rains. The climate is mild, thanks to the proximity of the Adriatic Sea and the protection of the Julian Prealps, with a temperature range in spring and summer that is suitable for viticulture.

Poderi di Carlo's Wines

Poderi di Carlo wines tell the story of a land and its people. These wines embody small parcels of land with special characteristics. They are a unique expression of the land of Friuli-Venezia Giulia and are crafted by the expert hands of our winemaking team.
White grapes are vinified through a simple and careful winemaking process that respects the origin of the fruit, with indigenous-yeast fermentation and extended ageing on the fine lees.
Red wine is the result of a gentle maceration on the skins, spontaneous fermentation, and accurate aging in stainless-steel tanks.
Our light orange wines macerate a short time on the skins before the fermentation with indigenous yeasts. After racking, they mature in French barriques, with periodic batonnage and are bottled unfiltered. Sparkling wines complete our assortment: Glera IGT Frizzante is vinified in white and after the first fermentation in stainless steel tanks it naturally referments on the lees, without being filtered.
